Bookshelf

On Afsha's Shelf
People look at my bookshelf and call me a voracious reader. I look at my bookshelf and call myself a hoarder. It’s true. In a good month, I’ve bought myself three books before I’m done with the one I’m currently reading. So creating this page is an attempt at discipline to finish what I’ve started or in many cases, bought before I can move on the newer, crispier pages.
River of Smoke by Amitav Ghosh | I stood in a long line for his autograph and bought the book at full price. The least I can do is read the book with the mammoth cover.
Out by Natsuo Kirino | Read half of it. Grimy, it was. But brilliant nonetheless!
Selected plays of Henrik Ibsen | I saw. I bought. I read two acts. I gave up.
Red Dragon by Thomas Harris | I was distracted by the cat.
Ice Candy Man by Bapsi Sidhwa | Gave it up halfway to read Sidhwa’s Water.
The Bastard of Istanbul by Elif Shafaq | The ownership for this book has been in dispute for a few years. But after a lot of biting, scratching and pulling of hair, my sister decided it did belong to me after all.
Weight Loss by Upamanyu Chatterjee | That kid in the book is M-E-S-S-E-D U-P yo! But I think I’ve got the stomach for it now.
My Name is Red by Orhan Pamuk | Hmm… where is it?
Snow by Orhan Pamuk | Read the rant here
